Many small business owners face the same trade-off with their website: the version they love looks stunning and loads slowly, and the version that loads fast looks plain. On a budget Android phone with patchy 4G, which is how a lot of India shops, slow usually wins the argument by losing the visitor.

You rarely have to choose. Our recent work on Pure Prakriti's monsoon storefront shows why. The opening download fell from 2.78 MB to 460 KB, and PageSpeed mobile rose from 84 to 91 (lab runs), without removing a single animation frame. The full story is in the [Pure Prakriti case study](https://www.brandbakery.tech/work/pure-prakriti). Here are the three lessons that apply to almost any site.

## 1. Load what the visitor is about to see, and nothing more

The original build downloaded every frame of every animation before the visitor had scrolled an inch. Splitting those into pieces that load only when the story reaches them did most of the work. Ask your developer one question: "What does the first screen actually need?"

## 2. Never make people wait for an intro

A preloader that holds the page hostage costs visitors. Cap it: let go as soon as the first image is visible, and put a hard time limit on it. Respect phones set to reduced motion, too.

## 3. Make every claim true before you make it fast

Speed is pointless if the page misleads. On this project the fake checkout became real Amazon links, and placeholder reviews became real, dated excerpts. If your site has a dummy form, a stock "trusted by thousands" badge or reviews you can't source, fix those first.

## Check your own site
