Act 01Interior design

Your designers are on site. Who answers the phone?

Interior designers spend the day on sites and in showrooms, so calls from Google, Instagram and referrals often ring out. An AI receptionist answers every call, says it is an AI, asks the possession date and budget, books the measurement visit and logs the caller. Brand Bakery's costs ₹10,000 a month after a ₹30,000 setup, with 1,000 minutes included.

Where to look first

  1. During a site visit
  2. After office hours
  3. Showroom and studio walk-ins
  4. The handover snag

Act 02The pattern

When the studio phone rings out

Look at a week of missed calls on the studio number and the times they came in. Most fall into a few moments when nobody is free to pick up.

  • During a site visit

The designer is measuring a flat or meeting a contractor, and the phone stays in a pocket. The caller tries the next studio on the list.

FixCalls answered while the team is out, with the measurement visit booked into the designer's calendar.

  • After office hours

Owners call after work and on Sundays, when they finally have time to think about the new flat.

FixThe same questions asked and the same visit slots offered at 9 pm as at 11 am.

  • Showroom and studio walk-ins

The person at the desk is with a walk-in client, and the phone rings through a material discussion.

FixThe call picked up without interrupting the client in front of you.

  • The handover snag

A past client calls about a hinge or a drawer channel and nobody notes it, so they call again, less patient.

FixThe issue, the room and a photo request logged and passed to the site supervisor the same day.

Act 03Your numbers

What a call that rings out costs

Take a month of missed calls on the studio number. Count how many were new enquiries, then use your own visit and project rates.

Average project value
₹6 lakh

That is 10 visits and 2 projects a month, about ₹12 lakh in project value, going to whichever studio picked up.

These are example numbers, not figures from any designer. Your call log gives the missed calls; your diary and project list give the rest.

Act 04Answer first

Every call, the same four questions

Whoever or whatever answers the phone, the first call should end with a visit booked or a clear reason to wait.

  • Answer every call to the studio number, including during site visits, evenings and Sundays
  • Ask possession date, carpet area or BHK, rough budget and which rooms
  • Book the measurement visit on the call when possession is within three months
  • Send two or three past projects of the same size on WhatsApp after the call
  • Log every caller with the source, so you know which channel brings real visits
  • Pass handover snags to the site supervisor the same day

Every studio call, the same way

A short version of the plan above.

Act 05Your options

Ways to answer the studio phone

Most studios use one of these today. Each covers some hours and misses others.

OptionWhat it fixesWhere it falls short
Front desk staffA known voice who can answer detailed questionsOffice hours only, and busy with walk-ins and accounts
Calls forwarded to a designer's mobileSomeone senior picks upRings out on site visits and pulls designers away from clients
An IVR menuRoutes calls to the right personSomeone still has to pick up, and after hours it ends in a missed call
An AI ReceptionistAnswers every call, says it is an AI, asks the four questions, books the visit and logs the callerDoes not quote designs or prices beyond what you approve. ₹10,000 a month after a ₹30,000 setup, with 1,000 minutes

Act 06Questions

Asked often

Straight answers. If yours is not here, ask it on a call.

What does an AI receptionist do for an interior design firm?

It answers calls to your studio number when nobody else can, says it is an AI assistant, asks the possession date, size, budget and rooms, books the measurement visit in your calendar and sends you a log of every call.

How much does it cost?

Brand Bakery's AI Receptionist is ₹10,000 a month after a ₹30,000 setup, with 1,000 minutes included, then ₹9 a minute. No GST is added.

Can it quote prices for a project?

Only the figures you approve, such as a starting price per BHK if you publish one. Anything beyond that goes to your designer, with the caller's details already noted.

Will callers know it is an AI?

Yes. Every call starts with the AI saying it is an AI assistant, and a notice that the call is recorded.

Can it also follow up leads from Instagram and lead platforms?

Calling new leads and following them up is the AI sales employee, ₹50,000 to set up, then ₹22,500 a month. The AI Receptionist answers the calls and WhatsApp messages people send you.
