GlassQfor iPhone and Mac
Film yourself without getting up.
GlassQ records on your iPhone and puts the rest on your Mac: the live picture, the camera settings, the record button, and your script in a prompter that hangs from the notch, right under the lens.
Coming soon to the App Store. Free to download. Pro is $19.99 a year, or ₹999 in India.
01
If you film yourself, you know the routine.
Prop the phone up and tap record. Walk back to the chair, which is why the first ten seconds of every take are you sitting down. Read the script off the laptop and watch your eyes drift away from the lens. Then AirDrop the file across and wait for it.
GlassQ keeps you in the chair. The phone stays where it is, and you run the whole shoot from the Mac.
02
Set it up once.
Get GlassQ Cam on the iPhone and GlassQ Studio on the Mac. Both are free to download.
Pair them with the 6-digit code the phone shows, over Wi-Fi or a USB cable. Studio remembers the phone and reconnects by itself next time.
Press ⇧⌘R on the Mac. The phone records, the Mac shows you the picture, and you never touch the phone.
03
A prompter where the camera is.
Studio’s prompter is a black panel that drops down from the notch at the top of the MacBook screen, so the words sit right below the camera line. It can start scrolling the moment the phone confirms it’s recording.
Scroll it by hand on the trackpad, click it to pause, or change the speed from the keyboard.
- Viewfinder in the notch
- Swap the script for a small live picture of yourself, right under the lens, to check your framing.
- Phone on its own
- GlassQ Cam has a prompter too: a short strip beside the front camera, or a band over the preview with speed, size and mirror controls. The text never ends up in the video.
04
Run the iPhone camera from the Mac.
Studio shows the iPhone’s picture live, with low latency: about 150 ms to the first frame in our tests on an iPhone 17. From there you switch between the front and back cameras, zoom from 0.5x to 5x, and set focus, ISO, shutter speed and white balance by hand.
On the back camera, Cinematic blur softens the background in 4K at 30 fps, with the aperture anywhere from f/2 to f/16.
- Grid
- A rule-of-thirds grid on the preview. It never shows in the recording.
- Dim the phone
- Turn the iPhone’s screen dark from the Mac. It saves battery and keeps the glow off your face.
- Phone status
- Battery, charging and heat, shown on the Mac while you shoot.
05
The full-quality take stays on the iPhone.
The iPhone records the master to its own storage, at up to 4K. The Mac only ever gets the preview stream, so it never compresses your recording.
When a take is worth keeping, open Takes on the Mac and save it across. Nothing copies by itself.
06
No account, and no cloud.
There’s nothing to sign up for. Video goes from the phone to the Mac over your own Wi-Fi or a USB cable, and only when you tap Save. The two pair with a one-time code, remember each other, and encrypt everything that passes between them.

Questions
Do I need both apps?
No. GlassQ Cam works on its own, with its own prompter. Studio adds the Mac: the live picture, the camera controls and the notch prompter.
How is this different from Continuity Camera?
Continuity Camera is Apple’s free way to use an iPhone as a Mac webcam, and it’s great for calls. It sends a live picture to the Mac. GlassQ records a full-quality file on the iPhone, lets you set the camera by hand, and gives you a teleprompter.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. It stays on your iPhone until you save it to your Mac. There’s no account and no server.
Why isn’t Studio on the Mac App Store?
Studio talks to the iPhone over a USB cable, and Mac App Store rules don’t allow that connection. So Studio is a direct download, signed and notarized by Apple.
Do I pay separately for the Mac and the iPhone?
No. Buy Pro once in the iPhone app and it covers both. Studio picks it up from the paired iPhone.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time, in your Apple Account subscriptions. Lifetime is a one-time purchase.
Is GlassQ free?
Both apps are free to download, and the free version has no watermark, no time limit and no nag screens. Pro covers both apps from $19.99 a year (₹999 in India).
