Payment Delay Cost Calculator
For distributors and traders: see how much money sits with buyers beyond your credit period, and what it costs you in interest.
Money with buyers beyond your credit period
₹22,00,000
Payments run 22 days past your credit period. At your rate, that money costs you ₹20,167 a month and ₹2,42,000 a year in interest.
- Days past your credit period
- 22
- Owed to you at any time, in all
- ₹52,00,000
- Interest a year on the late money
- ₹2,42,000
- Interest a month on the late money
- ₹20,167
Only the interest is priced. Late payers are also likelier to never pay, and chasing them takes your team's time; neither is counted here. A month is 30 days.

- 7 days late A message with the date they promised on the call, and the statement of account.
- 15 days late Hand it to the owner or the sales person who knows the buyer. Hold new credit until it is cleared.

Questions owners ask
Straight answers
How is the money stuck worked out?
Your credit sales a month, divided by 30, times the days payments run past your credit period. With ₹30 lakh of credit sales and payments 22 days late on average, about ₹22 lakh is sitting with buyers at any time beyond what you agreed.
Which interest rate should I use?
The rate on the money that fills the gap: your OD or CC limit, or a business loan. If you fund it from your own savings, use what those savings would have earned.
Is the interest the whole cost?
No. Late payers are also more likely to never pay, and chasing them takes your team's time. The calculator shows only the interest, because that is the part you can work out exactly.
Is a reminder plan pushy?
Not if it is polite and on schedule. Most late payments are forgotten invoices, not refusals. A note before the due date, a reminder on it and a call a few days after usually settles them.
