- Home, housing society, shop or factory
- Average monthly electricity bill
- Roof type, shade-free area and who owns the roof
- Sanctioned load and electricity distributor
- Interest in the subsidy, a loan or EMI
- A time when the decision maker is at the site
These rule out the obvious misfits on the phone. The final call on a roof is always your surveyor's, and subsidy amounts depend on the scheme rules, so check them on the official portal.

The service behind it
Questions owners ask
Straight answers
What should one survey cost include?
The surveyor's time for the visit and the drive both ways, fuel or a cab, and anything you pay per visit, such as a drone or a helper. If a salaried engineer does three surveys a day, divide a day of their pay and travel by three.
Why does it not estimate the wasted surveys for me?
We have no reliable figure for how many solar surveys find a roof that could never fit, and a made-up number would be worse than none. Count last month's surveys that ended with a shaded roof, a rented house, no space or a bill too small to justify a system, and put that share in.
What do I ask before booking a survey?
The six questions under the result: type of building, monthly bill, roof type, shade and ownership, sanctioned load and distributor, interest in the subsidy or a loan, and a time when the decision maker is at the site. They do not replace your surveyor. They stop the trips that were never going to sign.
Does this promise a subsidy amount?
No. This calculator is about your survey costs. For the PM Surya Ghar central subsidy rules, use the solar subsidy calculator, and check the final amount on the official portal.
